INP (Interaction to Next Paint)

The Core Web Vital for responsiveness: how long a page takes to visibly respond to clicks, taps and key presses.

INP observes every interaction during a visit and reports one of the slowest, so a page that is quick at first but sluggish later is caught. A good score is 200 milliseconds or less.

It replaced First Input Delay (FID) as a Core Web Vital in March 2024. FID measured only the delay before the first interaction was handled, which most sites already passed.
