Google update alerts
Two notifications per update: one when Google confirms it has started, one when Google confirms it has finished. Nothing else — no general SEO news, no newsletter. Checked against Google's Search Status Dashboard every 15 minutes, so an alert usually arrives within a quarter of an hour of Google's own announcement.
1. Pick a feed
2. Send it where you will see it
Slack
Add Slack's RSS app to your workspace, then in the channel you want alerted type:
/feed subscribe https://seo-serps.info/feed/updates
Slack checks the feed on its own schedule, usually within the hour.
Any RSS-to-email service will do it. Paste the feed URL into one such as Blogtrottr or Feedrabbit and choose "send immediately". Most feed readers (Feedly, Inoreader) can also email new items.
Discord
Use an RSS bot such as MonitoRSS: invite it to your server, then add the feed URL to the channel.
A feed reader
Subscribe in Feedly, Inoreader, NetNewsWire or any reader. Readers that support push (WebSub) are not needed — the feed is small and cheap to poll.
Your calendar
Every update as an event, with its rollout window: google-updates.ics. Subscribe by URL rather than importing, so new updates appear by themselves.
Your own code
Poll the feed, or read export.json for the full archive with exact timestamps. Please poll no more than every 15 minutes; nothing changes faster than that.
What triggers an alert
Only an update Google itself confirms on its Search Status Dashboard: core updates, spam updates, and other named ranking updates such as Discover updates. Serving and indexing incidents are left out — they are outages, not ranking changes; the live tracker shows them. Unconfirmed volatility never triggers an alert.
