Source leaderboard

Two measures across the 46 publishers we follow. First, how often each one was the earliest to report a story that other outlets then also covered. Second, what share of each one's stories our scoring rated as medium or high impact for a working site. Both are counted from our own archive of 1,105 stories.

First to the story

Across 3 stories covered by two or more outlets, recorded since 27 October 2026.

Read this with care

“First” is first among the outlets we follow, by the publication time each outlet states in its own feed. It says nothing about outlets we do not read, and a Google announcement will always precede the reporting on it — which is why Google's own channels do well here. Stories are grouped automatically from their headlines and the grouping is occasionally wrong.

Impact share is not a measure of quality. It is the proportion of a source's headlines that our scoring rated as likely to require attention on a working site. A source that publishes deep guides will score low and still be the more useful read. The method is set out on the About page.

The archive only knows what it has collected, so a source followed for longer has more stories counted. Free to cite with a link.
