Reviews system

Google's ranking system for review content, rewarding first-hand experience and original analysis over summaries of manufacturer claims.

The reviews system, first released as the product reviews update in 2021 and later widened to reviews of services, places and media, assesses whether a review shows the reviewer actually used the thing reviewed.

Google said in 2023 that improvements to the reviews system would from then on roll out regularly without separate announcements.
