Internal links

Links from one page of a site to another page of the same site.

Internal links help search engines discover pages, understand how they relate and judge which matter most; a page many others link to is treated as more important than one linked from nowhere. Descriptive anchor text tells both users and crawlers what the destination is about.

Pages with no internal links pointing to them — orphan pages — may be crawled rarely or not at all.
