Helpful content system
A Google ranking system, launched in 2022, that demoted sites with a high proportion of content made for search engines rather than people.
Introduced in August 2022, the helpful content system applied a sitewide signal: a site with a lot of unhelpful, search-first content could see all its pages held back, not only the weak ones.
In March 2024 Google folded it into its core ranking systems, so there are no longer separate helpful content updates. Its principles now surface through core updates.
